It is a full bodied and smooth whisky with notes of light smoke, apple, citrus, ginger and nutmeg. Nikka uses coal fired stills to distil this single malt, a rare method which has now been lost in Scottish single malt whisky making. It is ideal for fans of coastal whiskies and is best enjoyed neat.
